At St. Joseph’s Hill Secondary School (SJHSS), we are delighted to share the joyful news of a significant milestone in our journey of educational growth and mission. On a bright and grace-filled day, our school community came together in a spirit of thanksgiving to celebrate the official blessing and commissioning of a newly constructed two-storey classroom block.
This special celebration was honored by the presence of Rev. Fr. Peter Caxton Mayanja, C.S.C., Provincial Superior of the Congregation of Holy Cross, Province of East Africa, who presided over the Eucharistic celebration. He was joined by fellow Holy Cross priests: Rev. Fr. Leonard Olobo, Rev. Fr. Prosper Atukwatse, C.S.C., Rev. Fr. Ponsiano Walugembe, C.S.C., and Rev. Fr. Vincent Balikuddembe, C.S.C. Their presence reaffirmed our shared commitment to forming students not just for academic success, but for lives rooted in faith, service, and leadership.
A Space That Reflects Our Mission
The newly blessed classroom block is more than a physical structure; it is a symbol of our unwavering mission to provide holistic Catholic education. Designed to meet the growing needs of our student body, this two-storey facility includes storage spaces and classrooms that will greatly enhance the teaching and learning environment on campus.

At St. Joseph’s Hill, we believe in nurturing both the intellect and the spirit. This building allows us to continue offering an educational experience that promotes academic excellence, moral integrity, and spiritual depth. It provides our teachers and students with the space and resources they need to flourish in an environment of respect, innovation, and Christian values.
Gratitude for Shared Mission
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Holy Cross Mission Center, whose generous support made this project possible. Their ongoing partnership with the Congregation of Holy Cross in East Africa exemplifies the global spirit of solidarity that fuels our shared mission of forming hearts and minds for the transformation of society.

In the Spirit of Blessed Basil Moreau
As we dedicate this new space, we are reminded of the guiding words of Blessed Basil Moreau, founder of the Congregation of Holy Cross:
“The mind will not be cultivated at the expense of the heart.”
This new classroom block reflects this vision—a space where learning is infused with compassion, where faith and knowledge go hand in hand, and where students are empowered to become thoughtful, responsible, and faith-filled leaders of tomorrow.
Looking Ahead with Hope
This moment marks a new chapter in the life of our school. As we continue to grow, we do so with deep gratitude, renewed purpose, and a firm belief in our motto:
“Ave Crux, Spes Unica – Hail the Cross, Our Only Hope.”
May this classroom block be a beacon of light and learning for generations to come. May it inspire all who walk its halls to pursue wisdom, grow in faith, and serve the world with love.
